“We have stayed at the Thatch Cottage for 6 years. They are the best, besides Joan takes great care of you.  It is set on a working farm that has wonderful walking. For cottages they are updated and comfortable to live, cook and just enjoy the countryside!”

“Joan Toomey’s Thatched Irish Cottage was the first place we stayed upon arrival in Ireland, Joan provided a warm welcome with her fresh baked scones with lovely Irish butter and jam with Barry’s tea. Later she came by to light the cozy fireplace with a traditional peat (turf) fire to warm the cottage creating that marvelous fragrance only to be found in a cottage in Ireland. The rooms were authentically decorated, the beds very comfortable and showers provide lots of hot water. My tip; the Woodlands hotel across the road serves an excellent ‘full Irish’ breakfast if you don’t wish to cook for yourself. We bought groceries locally at Cosmo in Adare and cooked our breakfasts in the well equipped kitchen, Braun dishwasher too.”

“I have stayed at the thatched cottage twice now, and both stays were wonderful. The cottage is beautiful and quaint. The rooms are decorated well and are very comfortable. The garden is idyllic and a perfect spot to read a book or have a cup of tea. The locations is perfect too. The cottage is just a few minutes outside of Adare, but it is still in the countryside. We really enjoyed the three dogs who visited the cottage daily. Joan and her family are also great. Joan had tea and scones ready for us when we arrived, and they were delicious. Joan was also very helpful about answering questions and helping us with the electric showers. Joan even installed wifi when we requested it when making our reservation. I highly recommend the thatched cottage!”

“This is the best place to stay in Adare. On the farm and away from the the traffic and yet only 5minutes from the shops. The house is beautiful and warm. The kids loved the space to run around and see the cows. What a great experience and an awesome place to stay. A definite must for any family or those enjoying a bit of quiet. The owners are extremely friendly. Everything is in the cottage so no need to worry about bringing too much.”
